My Tax Receipts (“we,” “us”) shows you a personalized breakdown of where your federal tax dollars go. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and how to remove it.
What we collect
Account information. If you sign up, we receive your email address. We don’t receive your password.
Receipts you compute. When you view your tax receipt while signed in, we save the salary, filing status, fiscal year, and computed total to your account so you can see your past receipts in My Receipts. Anonymous (signed-out) visits are not saved.
Product analytics. We collect anonymized information about how the site is used — page views and a small set of clicks like “clicked Share.” When you sign in, those events are associated with your account so we can understand the product end-to-end.
Error data. When the app errors, we capture enough context to reproduce and fix it: the URL, your browser type, IP address, and (for a small sampled fraction of sessions plus any session that errors) a short replay of what happened on screen.
Server logs. Standard request logs — URL, IP, response status, timestamp — for security and debugging.
How we use it
We use this data to operate the product, debug issues, understand how people use the site, and contact you about your account if needed.
We do not sell your data. We do not show third-party advertising. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Service providers
We rely on third-party service providers to host the application, handle sign-in, store data, collect analytics, and monitor errors. Each provider receives only the minimum information they need to perform their function on our behalf, and may not use it for any other purpose. We’ll share the current list on request.
How long we keep it
Your account and saved receipts persist until you delete your account. Receipts are capped per user — older receipts are trimmed automatically as you save new ones. Analytics and error data are retained for a limited period in line with our service providers’ standard policies.
Your rights
Delete your account. Sign in, click your avatar (top-right) → “Manage Account” → “Delete Account.” Deleting your account removes your record and all your saved receipts from our systems.
Export your receipts. Sign in and click “Download my data” in My Receipts to get a JSON file of every receipt under your account.
Ask us what we have. Same address. We’ll tell you what’s stored under your account.
Cookies
We use first-party cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the site (sign-in state, anonymous analytics). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Children
The product isn’t designed for children under 13 and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update the effective date at the top of the page when we make material changes. For non-trivial changes affecting signed-in users we’ll send a heads-up email.
